ANNOUNCEMENT : IEM (SOUTHERN BRANCH) FUND RAISING

Greetings, trust that you are all well.

The Executive Committee of The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (Southern Branch) will be embarking on some renovation works to the Secretariat Office. As most of you may be aware, the first floor of the Secretariat Office has been vacant for quite some time. We have not been able to find any suitable tenants. The second floor currently being used as the Secretariat Office is also getting too crowded especially during training sessions for talks, seminars and courses. Given these reasons, the committee has decided to renovate the first floor to become the new Secretariat Office, and upgrade the second floor to be the new Training Centre with a capacity of about 50 persons.

We have been prudent in the use of our funds and will continue to be doing so. We will be renovating in stages. Firstly, to do enough at the first floor to facilitate our Secretariat Office to relocate. Most of the funds for this initial exercise will come from IEM (Southern Branch)’s own funds. The second stage will be to upgrade the second floor and finish off any other outstanding items at the first floor office. Estimated total budget for the works is about RM150,000.00 We will be arranging some fund raising activities soon, of which a golf competition is scheduled for end April 2016. We are also appealing to the goodwill of our members who may wish to contribute individually.

The committee has also agreed to name the second floor training centre in honour of the member who contributes RM50,000.00 or more. Likewise for the first floor conference cum meeting room, in honour of the member who contributes RM30,000.00 or more. The above two donors will be accorded the naming right should they choose to forgo their own honoured names. In case there are more than one member bidding for each of the above, the honour of the naming right shall be accorded to the highest bidder, and the decision of the IEM (Southern Branch) Executive Committee is final.

All members who contribute RM1,000.00 and above, will also have their names listed in a Roll of Honour to be displayed in the Secretariat Office. The above are just some acknowledgements to recognize these generous individuals accordingly. We look forward to your generous contributions, no matter what the amount. Help us to help the Branch improve and upgrade our facilities to serve you all better.

Thank you.

Congratulations to IEM (Southern Branch) Chairman, Associate Professor Ir. Hayati Abdullah

On behalf of the IEMSB Committee Members, we are very proud of your new appointment as Board Member in the Board of Engineers Malaysia 2015/2016

The IEM PROFESSIONAL INTERVIEW TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION WORKSHOP

The IEM PROFESSIONAL INTERVIEW TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION WORKSHOP was held recently at IEMSB Secretariat office in Johor Bahru from 3-4 March 2016. The main objective of this workshop was to inform, train and update all the Interviewers/Assessors on revised PI process. The revised process is closely referenced to the UK Standards for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC) for Chartered Engineers. this seminar was organized by the PI Sub-Committee IEM (Southern Branch) , headed by its Chairman, Ir. Hj. Zainuddin B. Md Ghazali.
40 participants attended this seminar which was facilitated by Ir Lee Boon Chong, and Ir. Toh from IEM HQ PJ.
