Over recent years, environmental issue has affected consumers’ expectations of responsibilities of business towards environment. As major users of natural resources, businesses are under mounting pressure to use resources sustainably and responsibly. Many companies can enhance their competitive positioning and by quantifying potential benefits from integrating sustainability strategies with business strategies. This will increase their company value including better management of risks, value creation and opportunities.
The main thrust of Green Building practices and Green Initiatives through focusing on energy and water efficiency, waste reduction, construction costs, building maintenance and energy savings, insurance and liability, employee health and productivity, will enable the built environment to achieve high performance in their deliverables.
This can only be realized when the building or asset Life Cycle Costs (LCC) are fully appreciated. LCC is a reputable instrument, with which specific models are formulated to judge the profitability of alternatives. LCC analysis can be used to assess alternative building systems. When building sustainable constructions not only minimization of Whole Life Cycle cost, but also conservation of material, energy and gain social acceptance. Different construction alternatives are evaluated to determine environmental sustainability and economic efficiency.
In the advent of digitalization and data analytics, we will attempt from the FM perspective, truly explore the essence of data analytic that combines Artificial Intelligence, deep learning and Building Information Modelling (BIM) to enhance the building performance different from the conventional approaches.
